Wounded Blue Line will engage with you and your family to access the right help at the right time, with the best resources and support available.

Our Mission

To act as a liaison between the affected individual and their family, and their organisation, reducing any long – term effects of harm that could leave an individual feeling undervalued and isolated.

To signpost individuals and their families to information, peer support, established charities and others who have experienced similar injuries or conditions, as early as possible in their rehabilitation.

Aims and Objectives

Make those affected feel valued and provide support for their families from the very beginning enabling people to recover and rebuild their lives. Reach out to bridge the gap by helping people apply for assistance as early as possible, including government benefits and grants from charities, preventing communication breakdowns within organisations.

We aim to assist them to recover physically, financially and mentally giving those affected by trauma the tools to adapt following a life – changing experience.

We strive to ensure all emergency workers, staff and their families feel supported

How We Can Help

Practical Advice

Advice on applying for immediate financial assistance, including hospital, follow - on medical appointments, travel costs and access to charities that provide financial support when the individual returns home.

Respite

Have a thorough understanding of the respite care available to those injured/ ill and the support their families may need throughout their recovery.

Support

Act as a link between the individuals, organisation, federation/union and occupational health to co-ordinate support. Provide support similar to a Family Liaison Officer with a sound understanding of trauma and its signs and symptoms. Help individuals and their families access all appropriate support when they are ready to engage.

Friendly Face

Provide ongoing support after the initial incident. Where appropriate, help individuals access the relevant legal advice, maintain contact with their organisation and ensure they are not left feeling isolated or suffering moral injury as a result of a lack of support.

Wounded Blue Line is a free, independent and confidential service, committed to being the vital link between the emergency workers, their families and their organisation/federation/union.

Offering guidance, improving health and wellbeing, and signposting people to funds and charities that support the emergency services, reducing the long-term effects of trauma and ensuring people feel valued and significant.
